Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Loved. Using the app means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be got past, so they are short.

What Loved is

Loved is a companion to a mindset practice. You bring what you are carrying, the app helps you listen to it, find the belief underneath, and choose a truer one, and it keeps what you choose so you can hear it back.

What Loved is not

It is not therapy, not medical or mental health care, not a diagnosis, and not a crisis service. Using it does not make you a patient or client of anyone who made it. Nothing in it is a substitute for a professional who knows you, and nothing in it is a reason to start, stop, or change any treatment; take those decisions to your own clinician. If you are in danger or in crisis, contact emergency services or a crisis line where you are. The app watches for signs of crisis and will stop the exercise and point you to real help, but it is software, and it can miss things. You use Loved by your own choice and on that understanding.

Who can use it

You need to be old enough to hold your own Apple Account. If you are under 18, use it with a parent or guardian's permission.

Your account

You sign in through Clerk with an email address. Keep your access to that email secure, because whoever can receive its sign-in code can read everything you have written here. Activity under your sign-in counts as yours.

Your words are yours

What you write in Loved belongs to you. We do not claim it, sell it, publish it, or use it to train AI models. What the app needs is permission to store it and send it to the providers named in the Privacy Policy so the practice can work at all. If you send us ideas about the app itself, we can use them without owing you anything for them; what you write inside the practice is never treated as a suggestion.

What is ours

Loved itself, its words, sounds, method, and design, belongs to us and to the people who license parts of it to us. What you get is a personal, non-transferable license to practice with it on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, under the App Store's usage rules, which also let anyone in your Family Sharing group use it. It is not a right to copy it, sell it, or build something else out of it.

What the AI produces

The guided parts of the practice are generated by a language model. It can be wrong, it can misread you, and its suggestions are prompts for your own judgment rather than conclusions about you. The truths you keep are yours to accept or reject, and rejecting one is part of the practice.

Subscriptions

Some parts of Loved require a paid subscription. If you buy one:

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The price and the length of the period are shown to you before you buy, on the App Store and in the app.

The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.

You manage the subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in your Apple Account settings. That is the only place it can be cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.

Refunds are handled by Apple under their policy, not by us.

What a subscription includes

Playing your kept truths back, and keeping them, is unlimited. There is no cap on listening while your subscription is active. When it ends, hearing your lines pauses and your writing stays readable. Everything you kept is here the moment you subscribe again.

The guided conversation, the part where the app works through a fear with you, has a monthly allowance, because each one costs real money to run. The allowance is shown in the app before you subscribe and in Settings afterwards, and it is set high enough that ordinary practice does not reach it. We will not reduce it during a period you have already paid for. It can change for future periods, and any change is shown in the app before your next renewal.

Fair use

Do not use Loved to harm anyone, do not try to break, probe, or overload it, do not attempt to reach another person's account or data, do not scrape it or use it to build a competing product, and do not resell access to it. We can suspend or close an account that does these things. If breaking these rules costs us something, including what it costs us to deal with claims other people bring because of it, that cost is yours.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. It removes your work from the database and deletes your sign-in account, permanently, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not by itself cancel an active subscription, so cancel that in your Apple Account settings as well. Ending your account ends these terms for you, except the parts that by their nature continue, such as the limits on our liability and your responsibility for what happened while the account was open.

No promises about outcomes

Loved is provided as it is and as it is available, with no promises or warranties of any kind, stated or implied, including any implied promise that it is fit for a particular purpose. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, free of errors, or that it will produce any particular result for you. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it, and our total liability for everything else is limited to what you paid for Loved through your Apple Account in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.

Loved and Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We are solely responsible for Loved and for everything in it. Supporting it is ours to do as well: Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Loved at all.

If Loved ever fails to meet a warranty the law implies, you can tell Apple, and Apple's only obligation is to refund you what you paid Apple for it. Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind, and anything else that follows from that failure is ours to answer for.

We answer claims about Loved, not Apple. That includes a claim that it caused harm, that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, or that it falls short under consumer protection or privacy law. If anyone claims Loved infringes their intellectual property, investigating, defending, settling, and discharging that claim is ours alone.

When you use Loved you also have to keep to the terms of the other services it reaches you through, including the App Store's usage rules.

You confirm you are not in a country under a United States embargo and not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you as a third party who benefits from them.

Changes

These terms may change as the app does. Material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, stop using Loved and cancel any subscription in your Apple Account settings; continuing to use Loved after a change takes effect means accepting it.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and a dispute about them belongs in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington. If the consumer law where you live gives you rights that an agreement cannot take away, you keep them.

Housekeeping

If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stand. If we let something pass once, we have not given up the right to hold to it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Loved. You cannot transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We can transfer them if the practice changes hands, and the promises in them go with them.
